Dancing for Parkinson’s

Dancing for Parkinson’s was an annual event I originated, in collaboration with the Michael J. Fox Foundation to honor my grandfather. Dancing for Parkinson’s was featured in 7 local publications and raised over $35,000 for Parkinson’s research. For its contributions to Parkinson’s Research, the event was given the Michael J. Fox MVP fundraiser award.

The annual events featured:

  • Educational Speakers & Demonstrations

  • Performances from local dance organizations including performers affiliated with So You Think You Can Dance?, Cirque du Soleil, and World of Dance

  • A dance performance from Parkinson’s patients in collaboration with AdventHealth

  • A silent auction with local vendors and artists

  • Musical performances

  • And more!

This week Charles DeBord, my grandfather and the inspiration behind Dancing for Parkinson’s passed away. His strength and bravery is something that I will always admire and love. We will miss him deeply, but we know he is in a better place now.
